Monoprint done with a selection of different water colours and white gouache plus some gum arabic. Fabriano Accademia Pad 240gsm paper seems to work quite well. This paper seems to be unsized which works very well for picking up and absorbing the pigments. It’s not heavily textured either.

Work in progress. Trying to open phone with a selfie – it doesn’t work! (wonder why?)

Check this out! Polycidaris ilminsterensis, maybe? Apparently it’s very rare and is only known from a few fragments. I need to check with the NHM. Specimen collected near Seavington.

I’m experimenting with monoprinting using watercolours. Painting onto a glass plate (from an old oven). I’ve been using White Knight watercolours and plenty of gum arabic. Having let the image dry on to the glass I use damp rag watercolour paper (soaked for 5 minutes )and a spoon to transfer the image. My main problem is paper texture that tends to overwhelm the image. This image is Arches hot pressed. I think that botanical paper might be better.
