Nice clear night for astronomy last night.  Good view of the planet Saturn and also of the M13 globular cluster, 25,100 light years from Earth.  M13 – “It was discovered by Edmond Halley in 1714, who noted that ‘it shows itself to the naked eye when the sky is serene and the Moon absent.”  according to SEDS.

Slavo Zizek – Towards a Materialist’s Theory of Subjectivity.  I’m still thinking about this one.

Then an Anoushka Shankhar concert at The Royal Festival Hall.  Really enjoyed the evening, great music, great atmosphere and superb music.

Should have gone to a certain optician!

Just finished reading ‘The People’s Platform Taking Back Power and Culture in the Digital Age by Astra Taylor.  Your digital footprint is being followed and monitored.  Your data compiled and sold.  Be afraid!  Life controlled by advertising and capitalism. Independent investigation and creativity now a thing of the past!!

Fossil light – just thinking how amazing it is that we can observe and capture photons that were emitted by stars and nebulae many millions of years ago.

Saved!

I would like to try painting a complete self portrait without wearing my glasses.  I believe that this is how Lucien Freud  worked, but I don’t know if he needed to wear glasses.
